SECTION 21 — REFUND POLICY
Fees paid for the Docathon programme are non-refundable once a student has been enrolled on the platform. This reflects the fact that access to course materials, live mentorship sessions, and platform resources is granted in full upon enrolment.
In the exceptional circumstance that MAD Courses is unable to deliver the programme as described — including the scheduled live sessions and mentor feedback — a partial or full refund may be issued at our discretion, proportionate to the portion of the programme not delivered. Any such request should be directed to [email protected].
SECTION 22 — SAFEGUARDING AND MINOR USERS
The Docathon programme is designed for students from Grade 6 and above (approximately ages 11–18). MAD Courses is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all student participants and operates in accordance with its safeguarding policy, which is available upon request.
Parental and Guardian Consent
Students under the age of 18 may only participate in the Docathon programme with the explicit written consent of a parent or guardian. By registering a student for the programme, the parent or guardian confirms that they have read and agreed to these Terms of Service and the MAD Courses Privacy Policy on behalf of their child.
Group Structure and Supervision
Students participate in Docathon in groups of up to five. All live mentorship sessions are conducted via Google Meet and are led by a member of the MAD Courses Docathon team. At no point will a student be alone in a one-to-one setting with a mentor — all sessions are conducted in a group format. A designated member of staff from the student's school (the school's Docathon point of contact) is encouraged to be present or available during live sessions.
Whenever our mentors email students to update them on the program, this will be done with the school’s Point of contact/designated teacher in copy at all times.
Session Recording
All live mentorship sessions are recorded for safeguarding and security purposes only. Recordings are not shared externally and are retained solely in the event that a concern or dispute arises. A written summary of each session, including the topics covered and any next steps, will be shared with the school's designated point of contact after each session.
Filming Guidelines
We strongly recommend that students film their documentary on their school campus, where they are under the supervision of school staff. Where students wish to film off campus, the following conditions apply:
Explicit written consent must be obtained from the student's parent or guardian
The school's designated Docathon point of contact must also give their explicit approval
Filming outside of live sessions should be supervised by either the designated school staff member or a parent or guardian of one of the group members at all times
Student Content and Sharing
Student films and any content created as part of the Docathon programme remain the property of the student. No student film or identifiable content will be shared publicly, screened at events, or used in MAD Courses marketing materials without the explicit written consent of both the school and the student's parent or guardian.
Reporting Concerns
If a parent, guardian, teacher, or student has a safeguarding concern related to the Docathon programme, they should contact MAD Courses immediately at [email protected]. MAD Courses will respond within 24 hours and, where necessary, will refer the matter to the appropriate authorities.
